AM/NS India operations

We are a fully integrated flat carbon steel manufacturer – from iron ore to ready-to-market products – with current achievable capacity of 8.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA).

Our manufacturing facilities comprise iron making, steel making, and downstream facilities including cold rolling mill, galvanising, pre-coated facility, steel processing, an extra wide plate mill and a pipe mill.

We also have significant iron ore pelletization facilities, with current annual capacity of 14 million tonnes. Our pelletising capacity is located in eastern India, with direct access to the region’s rich iron ore reserves.

Gujarat

Our flagship plant is located at Hazira, in the coastal state of Gujarat. It is the sole integrated steel facility in western India, close to the Arabian Sea and with good access to a deep draft port as well as seven distribution centres across India.

Hazira produces a complete range of flat rolled steel products, including value-added products, and is strategically  located near the major centres of demand  for steel: western, northern and central India.

The complex at Hazira is connected by a sophisticated inter-plant logistics network comprising rail and specialised carriers to transport materials and finished products efficiently. Our operations at Hazira include:

  • 1.7 MTPA Blast Furnace
  • 1.7 MRPA Two-unit Corex Plant
  • 6.8 MTPA HBI/ DRI facility
  • 4.6 MTPA Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)
  • 5.0 MTPA Conarc furnace
  • 3.5 MTPA Compact Strip Mill
  • 1.5 MTPA Plate Mill

Odisha

In the eastern state of Odisha, which boasts rich iron ore deposits and is a key region for Indian steelmaking, AM/NS India has a 8.0 MTPA beneficiation plant located at Dabuna and a 6.0 MTPA pelletization plant at Paradip, a major port town. The plants are connected by a 253 kilometre slurry pipeline with scope for expansion.

The Dabuna plant has access to high-quality iron ore  reserves in adjacent mines; at Paradip port the processed iron ore pellets are transported by sea to our Hazira plant on India’s west coast, where they are used as raw  material for the hot metal and sponge iron manufacturing units.

Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh

We operate an 8 MTPA beneficiation plant near Kirandul in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, a region rich in iron ore reserves.

The facility processes high-quality ore used in iron and steel making. The finished material is then transported through a 267 kilometre slurry pipeline to our 8 MTPA pellet plant in Vishakhapatnam, an all-weather port located in the south eastern state of Andhra Pradesh and well connected to the growing markets of south-east Asia. The pellet plant is around 7 km away from Vishakhapatnam port, and both are connected by a shipping conveyor system.

Maharashtra

AM/NS India operates a downstream facility near the industrial hub of Pune in the western state of Maharashtra.

Our Pune centre comprises a 0.7 MTPA pickling line, a 0.6 MTPA cold rolling mill, a 0.5 MTPA galvanizing mill, a 0.4 MTPA colour coating mill and a 0.1 MTPA  batch annealing plant. Pune is also home to one of our largest distribution centres, offering bespoke services with an emphasis on reducing inventory levels and processing costs for our customers. The Pune centre exports colour-coated products to more than 100 countries.

Distribution network

Our domestic distribution and service centre network comprises seven service centres in key industrial clusters across India: the National Capital Region (North); Chennai (South); Pune, Bhuj and Hazira (West); Indore (Central); and Kolkata (East).

Each of these centres is strategically located, close to major consumption hubs to support, among other things, the capital investment and working capital cycles of small and medium sized enterprise customers. We also operate four fabrication application centres located in Chennai, Kolkata, Hazira and Bahadurgarh (North).
